A Living Legend

A story 30 years in the making, the Eastern & Oriental Express has been narrating adventures since its inaugural journey from Bangkok to Singapore in 1993. After American businessman James B Sherwood purchased the luxury train carriages in Japan, these were remodelled in Singapore with elegance, echoing the spirit of ancient Indochina.  Today, the sister of the celebrated Venice Simplon-Orient Express, A Belmond Train, takes you on a grand journey in Southeast Asia to capture the heart of Malaysia

Sit down in one of our two dining cars for exquisite gastronomy in perfect company. In the Eastern & Oriental Express, Adisorn and Malaya reflect the arts and culture of Asia in their design — dine within elm panels and light wood design inlays, or rosewood with decorative lacquered panels hand painted with delicate flowers.
